Wilderness Outcry
Dear Friends,
Last year my friend, Dutch Sheets, received a powerful vision from the Lord that I believe can be catalytic for what God is doing in America, in 2010. Due to several confirmations, and because of our covenant friendship, I felt stirred to run with Dutch and help mobilize his vision. The following letter describes that vision. This gathering is not TheCall though I am standing next to Dutch in supportive leadership of this gathering in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
The following is Dutch Sheet’s letter:
We have a very important and exciting opportunity we would like to share with you concerning God’s heart for America. As a nation, we are in a great crisis. One does not have to be a prophet to know that without a spiritual awakening of monumental proportions, the America God birthed and still desires is lost. The forces trying to remove Him from our land and transform America into something other than a Christian nation have pulled out all the stops. Their passion to reshape our nation, rewrite our history and redefine our destiny is nothing less than astounding. We must match them in their intensity and passion, outmaneuver them with heavenly strategy and overwhelm them with holy fire and power in this season. We must! A few months ago several ministries, including those of us writing this letter, met for a day to ask God for some of those strategies. We had become convinced that we were no longer waiting on God to bring awakening to America – He was waiting on us, the Church. As we prayed, one of the strategies we believed we were hearing seemed quite bold – almost audacious. We are now convinced, however, that it truly was born of God for such a time as this and will be a part of launching this needed awakening.
Through scriptures, events in our pasts, literal dreams, divine connections and other confirmations far too numerous to mention in this letter, God has made clear to us that we are to hold a large, outdoor gathering this June 14-18, 2010, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. We are calling it “Wilderness Outcry.” We expect thousands of people – young and old – to gather for the purpose of consecrating ourselves to Him; passionate worship; fervent prayer; and receiving an impartation of the spirit of awakening to take back to their regions. God has given us Isaiah 44:3-5 (and confirmed it numerous times) as the theme for this gathering. It is not a concert, nor is it a typical outdoor festival. It is a time to leave the comforts and pleasures of home in order to humble and consecrate ourselves before Him and receive an impartation of revival fire. Though this gathering was in no way planned with the 40 year anniversary of the 1969 event “Woodstock” in mind, we have since come to believe that Wilderness Outcry actually is a prophetic response from God concerning that time – not to the Woodstock event in and of itself, but to the downward spiral of America which this 60’s event so pictured and propagated. It is widely accepted that Woodstock was a part of changing America and the world!
It is beyond interesting that Woodstock was held in Bethel, New York. In scripture Bethel symbolized a place, perhaps more than any other, where God spoke of His dreams. Because it so represents God’s dreams, it also became a city Satan loved to defile, which was his way of saying to God, “I will steal from you your dreams.” Was Woodstock a picture of Satan’s mocking, “in your face” statement to God, “you will not have your dream for America; I will have your dream!”? We believe it was.
It is also no coincidence that the name of the farm in Poplar Bluff where Wilderness Outcry will be held is named “Moriah.” Moriah is where Abraham was told to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice but was stopped by God before he did so. God then provided a substitute. This drama, of course, pictured God one day offering His son as our substitute. Amazingly, Moriah later became the exact place where the cross occurred and God redeemed the human race. As such, Moriah became the place where God recaptured His dream. By sovereignty choosing a farm named Moriah to host Wilderness Outcry, we believe God is once again painting a picture and making a statement, saying to America, “I am coming to ‘Moriah’ this summer and through the power of the cross recapturing My dream for America!” As we launch the plan for this strategic gathering, we are quickly incurring many up-front costs: a website; marketing; deposits on staging, lights, jumbo-trons; etc., just to name a few. We need $100,000 immediately and will soon need several hundred thousand dollars more. This, of course, is a significant amount of money but pales in comparison to what the enemies of God are spending to try and steal His dream for America. We are writing to ask if you can help.
